Since 2009 and the birth of Chattanooga FC, Russell Courtney has been rocking the backfield. Gifted with exceptional height, strength, and vision, Russell is a solid defender, particularly when it comes to winning balls in the air. He also possesses a cool head and years of experience that are helpful when it comes to breaking down opponent's game plans.
Russell's experiences in the game of soccer, particularly Chattanooga soccer, date all the way back to his days at Chattanooga Christian School, where he was voted Best of Preps. After a successful high school career, Russell made the short trek to Bryan College, where he went on to gather numerous awards, some of which included NAIA Honorable Mention All-American, AAC All-Conference, NCCAA All-American honors, and NCCAA National Player of the Year (Kyle Rote, Jr. Award).
Now a seasoned NPSL veteran, Russell not only serves as a team captain but also as a mentor to his new teammates.
